Looking for stories….

I work in a smedium sized hospital in the Midwest. We don’t see a lot of mass casualty events (thankfully), but our claim to infamy is having basically the entire laboratory department rotate as phlebotomists so many of us do have some wild stories working in The ED. Especially on the nightshift we do a lot of phlebotomy as MLS, and get thrown into traumas at least once a week. I’ve seen many car, boating, and snowmobile accidents; recently there’s been an uptick in machete fight injuries coming in? My first trip to the OR was with a 19 year old kid who tried to stop his cousins from stabbing each other with kitchen knives, and he got sliced in the arm and needed surgery to repair his brachial artery. After surgery he was so upset because he wasn’t able to go to work the next day. We had a girl who got shot in the butt “accidentally” by her boyfriend….what’s worse is that wasn’t even the first time he did that. The details that come out afterwards make the stories even more interesting.
