Looking for vegan companies to invest in

I mean, rule number 1 is not to take investment advice from randos online. But because I'm bored and have thought about this a bit myself, here are my thoughts:

You're not wrong that veganism is experiencing a surge and there will be money to be made from this. But of course if it were that easy then everyone would do it.

The challenge is akin to the solar industry 10 years ago. Virtually everyone knew solar would become a big deal, but there is virtually no way of knowing which specific companies will achieve notable growth, profits and shareholder returns and which companies might lose money or go bust.

So, to mitigate that, of course, there are mutual funds and investing in sectors overall but unfortunately 'veganism' is far too small of a thing to really have any funds to speak of.

So the next thing you might want to look at are companies that are doing novel products. Things that maybe haven't really been done before, or if they have, not quite like this. Basically looking for the 'iPhone' moments. Impossible and Beyond are both brands that check that box, but unfortunately, both are privately owned so unless you're knocking on their door with a couple million they're not likely to be selling you any shares or taking your investment. (Though you never know and if you're serious, it couldn't hurt to try, I don't think)

There are companies like Whole Foods that might make for a decent bet. Whole Foods has the infrastructure in place to 'catch' a vegan wave as well as anyone. But then the question turns into will their bottom line improve because of vegan products which is, again, pretty tricky if not impossible to really gauge when there are so many other factors.

Long and short of it is that same ol' thing, if it was easy, everyone would do it and markets wouldn't work the way they do. Trying to time a market is often a fool's errand, but you can gleam some lessons from how other markets have handled new products or 'movements' and/or from researching the cutting edge and innovative products that you think answer a question a lot of people are having. (e.g. "If there was a veggie burger that tasted identical to meat, would meat eaters go for it?" or whatever)
