Looking to interview a nurse who has worked in a country besides the US.

Canada. 1. Customer service is present, and patient and family satisfaction is important, although in the hospitals we don't go by "customer is always right" policy. First and foremost we do what's best for the health of the patient, and patients on the ward overall. Ex. If you didn't get your ice chips the second you asked for them, while I was dealing with a code situation, no one cares about your satisfaction in that moment. 2. Promptly. May have a different system in every hospital/ward. In my ward we answer call bell from the nursing station, I can answer you while sitting at the nursing station, you can hear my response right away as well. 3. Depends on situation. We have very different scopes of practice, as in the US. 4. Yes, modern. Same as US. 5. Same as US. Only bachelor degree for RN is allowed here though. Associate degree is for LPN. 6. Very strict. 7. Family is encouraged to participate, unless they are being verbally abusive or disruptive. We don't hesitate to call a code white for a rude family member. 8. Patients have a right to make an informed decision on what medication to take or not to take. 9. Culturally appropriate care is very important. We have mandatory classes for nurses, as well as free conferences, etc to help nurses keep up with culturally appropriate care. 10
