Looking to try out a traditional fighter and had some questions

The advanced stuff of that type is all character specific.
For example, Faust can jump, leave the ground for just a few frames, cancel the jump into a divekick, cancel the divekick into faultless defence and then instantly j.k for an instant overhead.
You need to do this entire sequence before he gets above the opponents knee height to make it a proper mixup.

Johnny's stance dash treasure hunt combos are an example of something that requires very precise inputs.

Lots of characters use micro dashes (before jumping) to adjust the trajectory of their jumps and special moves to alter it again to extend combos and punish anti-air attempts.

Also being able to tap back to instant block everything means less hitstun which means punishes on otherwise unpunishable things. It requires prediction, it's hard and a big deal if you can do it.

If your concern is simply that you'll max out your knowledge early because there's no "more to the initial purchase of the game then hammering on cpus" then rest assured that isn't a problem.

You won't be as good as a properly competitive player of this game in a year, let alone right away.
