Looking at you Yale

It's more that being a victim is profitable now.

You get money, attention, or both. Sure there are some psycho/sociopaths taking advantage of it but there are a lot of confused and generally lonely people involved in it as well.

If you were told all your childhood that you're special, your thoughts mattered, and even though you didn't win that you're still a winner, then you realize no one aside from your parents think so, you're going to get some serious butthurt. So what to do?

Oh look, here's some people self-diagnosing and identifying as all kinds of things, I kind of feel that way, so maybe I'm autistic or something too and if I am, then I'm special again.

And that's usually what it is, from my personal viewing. They get sucked into this echo chamber where as long as you conform to the narrative and reinforce each others' bullshit, you get praise as well from your little group.

Victimhood is the new religion.

These kids grew up on tumblr, reblogging anything they could, zero fact checking. If it made them feel, if it reinforced some sort of "i'm doing a good thing by spreading this message!" ideal, then they spread it. It reaches more idiots, and dissenting views and opinions are lost in the notes.

If you never see a counter argument to the shit you say, despite it being ignorant as hell, then you will believe you're right. Besides, anyone who says otherwise is probably a racist, sexit pig! That's where these students come from now. That's the mindset. They've almost never been questioned on their bullshit because they live in their perfectly sealed bubbles with people just like them. Break the narrative and you're kicked out. But then you'd be alone, and besides, they backed you up the other day when you were posting your stuff so you should back them up even if you're not sure they're right.

But I'm no psychologist. Just some white guy approaching middle age sitting at his computer. I'm the new enemy; but honestly, I'm just embarrassed for them, since they seem to have no shame of their own.
