It looks pretty bad from that angle :(

lol, no but apparently everyone who's down voting me is, and are incapable if seeing reality through a lucid lens.

Strictly as a player in the NHL of considerable talent and skill, yes he has a trade value. Where that value becomes null is when you look at Edler outside of a vacuum, ie in the real world.

  1. He has stated multiple times that he does not want to play anywhere else
  2. He has stated multiple times that if he was asked to waive his NTC he would not
  3. It doesn't matter if other GMs would offer 2 or 3 1st round picks and a prospect
  4. Benning can accept any deal he wants, but cannot commit to accepting any offers without first requesting permission from Edler, see #2.

Therefore, regardless if he is the most sought after defenceman in the entire league (he isn't), his insistence on not waiving his NTC kills any trade value he might otherwise have. Other GMs are not going to waste time in trying to acquire him because it's not up to JB, it's on AE.

For better or worse we are stuck with him until the expiration of his contract, and if the terms are not agreeable to both parties on an extension, then he will enter free agency and sign with a team he can strike a deal with.
