We all need more peace in this world. It’s a shame.

My great (x5) grandfather was a Indian Chief (Chief war eagle) who has a small statue of himself in Sioux City. Overlooking with an extended peace pipe. He was truly caught in the middle. His people hated the white people for land grabbing and lying and breaking promises but he continued to look for compromise and peaceful options with white people. They would sign land treaties and eventually abandon their deal. Outright lie and take it eventually anyways....this meant my grandfather was hated by his people and by some of the new white people. He was so defeated by hate from both sides that he eventually died in a frozen ditch after overdosing on alcohol.

Not a great ending to his story but I still have a small amount of his blood and would like nothing more than to see peace in this world. On this land.
