I could really care less how they are published or what their tradition is if the content doesn't speak true. All biblical content was written by humans, no matter how inspired we believe it to be.

God has been building a garden, metaphorically, in mankind. Invasive, destructive, parasitical weeds (sin) threaten to destroy the balance of this most perfect Gardener's garden. In His Word, He says that these will be gathered up from the earth and destroyed in fire. You don't pull weeds from the earth and lay them next to your purposeful plants. The weeds will take root again. You must dispose of them entirely.

We who are His children bear His fruit. He does not want us being tangled up in parasitical weeds that will suck the nutrients from the ground around us, drying us up and killing us spiritually. For this we are forbidden from certain things (because they are harmful), and for the sake of our flesh we disobey Him.

Homosexuality is a desire of the flesh. I wouldn't say this if I didn't already know personally. I have been face to face with my enemy, and he says "Be what you want to be." Sounds encouraging! But when my back is turned to him, and my eyes are on God, this enemy whispers "You'll never get away from it entirely. You'll run and run and run towards God but you will always be what you know you are." What a two-faced asshole, encouraging me to be gay, discouraging me from seeking God. And my strongest weapon against this is truth. All that I know that I am is God's child, which means He made me female for a purpose. And He brought me out of extreme poverty and homelessness for a reason. He brought me a pastor's son, who wouldn't even date me (or anyone!) until we were friends for nearly 2 years. He brought me a human who loves me with the cleanest, purest, freshest love and forgiveness I have ever encountered on this earth, and it's for a purpose. And He has taught me to love through this young man for a purpose. He has delivered me out of bisexuality for a purpose, and for this I praise Him. I never even came out of the closet, because real truth found me long before I felt I needed to speak "my truth" to the world. This is the first time I've ever spoken to another human being about it.

There is mercy in the killings of the OT. Should they have been left to continue destroying the works of God for generations so that their unrepentant and unredeemed sin stacked from earth to the heavens? The judgment would be GREAT. Jesus said that if your right hand causes you to sin, it would be better to cut off your own hand if it would keep you from repeating it. This speaks to the gravity of ONE sin. ONE transgression. The ones who were killed lived in constant, unrepentant sin that was passed down generations. That sort of "weed" could not be allowed to continue to grow.
