This is such a narrow view, I feel for you and I know how flawed NHS mental health treatment can be as someone with schizophrenia. But saying lockdown is a trade off between young people dying or old people dying is not accurate. It doesn’t account for a) not just young people have mental health crises made worse by lockdown and b) that lockdown isn’t just protecting the elderly, it’s protecting those people (including young people and children in some cases) with long term health issues that contracting COVID could be fatal. It is not the lockdown that is the root of the mental health crisis many like you are feeling, it’s the NHS and mental health services being underfunded for years, if it had been funded correctly we’d have much more resources at our disposal to help during this difficult period
