Was losing your virginity special and what was it like which made it special?

As I write this it sounds like an 80's teen comedy movie that didn't cut it but this is the 100% truth.

I moved to a new town and teenage me had a crush on the town pool lifeguard who was a few years older. She was so out of my league, so far out of it that I never even considered anything romantic. we were friendly to each other and part of a friend circle but we didn't interact much together. A few months later, my older brother came to visit our new house and he wasn't much older than she.

We all went out one night. my brother didn't know anyone so matchmaker me is trying to set them up together. later on that night, I'm dancing with said lifeguard and I ask what she thinks of my brother. She grabbed my ass and said he not the "OP's last name" she's interested in. I was in shock, like when Tom from Tom & Jerry get's so scared they can see their soul leave their body.

Over the next few days, my brother goes back to his home, (and as this was early 90's) I track down lifeguards number and we start talking. One weekend my parents had to travel so I invited her over. Teenage me tried so hard to make romantic dinner for this girl (I'm cringing so bad as I write this). but alas my wonderful home made chicken parm worked. we didn't make it to cleaning up the dishes before we started getting it on. It was everything I thought it could be.

it was a fun relationship that lasted a few months until she left for college. I look back fondly on the entire experience.

that was a long time ago, we both moved on and eventually lost touch.

its a story my wife never heard nor asked about. though I can't tell her now decades later as when we first met, she had a cat that shared the lifeguards name.
