Lost my little Luna tonight to wet tail. Happened so fast that I can barely process it.

Not all of us can lay down a month of groceries on a chance that a small, fragile animal might extend its life by a few months.

Getting sick and dying is part of being alive. Hamsters already have a short lifespan. That is part of owning a hamster. You Iknow it is fragile and won't live long.

Everyone draws the line somewhere. I'm not going to put my hamster on dialysis or diabetes meds. I'm not going to pay hundreds and thousands for surgeries or long-term boarding/care ... and I think it's shitty to morally judge someone else's limits on something like that if they don't line up to yours.

Do you judge people who don't have the biggest, most expensive cage and all the toys? Do you judge owners who can't play with their hamster every day?

At some point you're saying only the wealthiest of the wealthy with all the time and money in the world should own a hamster ... They die in a couple years and cost like $10. Be realistic.
