Lost a player due to DMs multiclass ruling

Certainly it is advisable but in this particular situation we are not privy to whether there had been a session zero to go over this. Regardless, even under circumstances that allow it, making the choice to multiclass should be collaborative with the DM so they can better prepare and integrate a new aspect to the game.

Furthermore, session zeros aren't a community standard for everyone, many tables forego this process altogether. In such cases DM ruling and RAW are the best guidelines.

And as to consequence as you addressed above, if a player chose to ignore world lore and RP, expected repercussions may be unexpected to them as they are treating it like a video/war game.
