Lost in reconstruction | The earthquake did not just destroy Barpak, it demolished its architectural heritage

Listen bud, i already told you whats up with structure and shit, Do you think every other load bearing structure got demolished in earthquake? No! Every RCC building survived the earthquake? NO! Do some research mate! The point is if we properly design alternate stuctures then they too will be earthquake resistant. Lots of load bearing buildings in kathmandu didn't get damage.. beacsue they had proper technology. There are a lot examples of such structure. You can take the example of CEDA bulding, Taragaon resort, Narayanhiti palace, etc(i cant name other private own residences) The point is construction of equally earthquake resistant building in Load bearing is more economic than the RCC structure. (for normal up to 2.5 storied residences hai) i have made my point in previous comments. explaining everything i learnt in my degree is impossible.

The load bearing structure mainly had few problems such as in-plane and out-plane movement of masonry wall, Gable effect which can be easily prevented using wall ties and vertical stiffeners. The majority of loadbearing wall which failed during earthquake were due to this reason, also the weren't maintained in a while. Now, please dont compare old temples which had been built at least 100 years ago to RCC structure which was beuilt 20 years ago.. aging matters.. and the maintenance too.. but generally speakig RCC is a much expensive investment for a average residential building. Thank you!

And i didnt mean new technology as prefab and steel structures.. what i meant was by proper calculation anything can be built of any medium.. just we need to consider if is effective and efficient or not!
