I think a lot of us are plugging our Xboxes in wrong

First with surge protection...

You are 100% right i wouldnt piggy back protectors...

I trying to explain,

im not using a surge protector...

Defined by Google:
A surge protector (or surge suppressor) is an appliance designed to protect electrical devices from voltage spikes. A surge protector attempts to limit the voltage supplied to an electric device by either blocking or by shorting to ground any unwanted voltages above a safe threshold

Im using a line conditioner...

As defined by Google:A power conditioner (also known as a line conditioner or power line conditioner) is a device intended to improve the quality of the power that is delivered to electrical load equipment

the conditioners sole job is to deliver consistent 120 volts of power...regardless of dips and surges in the local power grid.

I trying to say that the brink plugged in my hdp 1800 (if its doing its job) delivers more consistant power then being plugged in to the wall.

My local power grid in virginia is in shambles, we get dips and surges constantly, that's why I bought this device, the HDP has a graphical display reading the incoming power, it will drop as low at 118, and as high as 122...

Please understand, im not being snippy... its just that everytime i call support i have to explain this...

conditioners are not common, so I understand the confusion here.

These are common: http://m.homedepot.com/p/Belkin-6-Outlet-Power-Strip-F9P609-05R-DP/100654572/

That is a power extender, not even a suppressor... it converts 2 outlets to 6 outlets, and im telling you these are the source of all your headaches!

I have never used a surpressor on the xbox i cant speak for whether they are causing any issues or not, i did give my buddy an old surpressor and (/u/odiousogre) is going to guinea pig it up and see if a $80 1 by 8 suppressor/extender by RCA causes the same symptoms...

Also the problem with power extender issues is they dont occur right away...

it takes months...

Ogre sent in his first console for repair, it was acting hinky as we mentioned... months later (last night) the replacement starts acting up, and through troubleshooting figured out that he was using an extension cord (an extender) ( literally from the seventies...)

We removed that and blam working fine as wine!

His issue seemed to be an extender issue (or by your words a suppressor issue)

My grand point here is the confusion between extender and suppressor and line conditioner is preventing proper trouble shooting...

My buddy called 3 or 4 months ago to the call center and they didn't catch this EXTENDER issue and his original box went off for repair the replacement comes back he uses the same cords and cables and months later the same issues occur...

And issues like the wireless constant disconnect issue are being diagnosed by surge suppressors incorrectly..

everytime i have called the support center I very carefully use the verbiage line conditioner...

They then they tell me my xbox cannot be hooked into a surge protector...

telling me that my conditioner is causing my headaches, bucause im piggy backing supressors.

Which im saying functions the exact opposite...

...of the way call center understands it.

That was very long and im in the van with the wife and kids typing on an android, so I'm sure there's typos and grammar issues aplenty... I will do my best to go back and edit so my thought has a little cohesion...

I would love for one of you guys to call me so I can explain with my mouth instead of the keyboard...
