A lot of the heavily-downvoted posts on this website are usually good points, and they only receive criticism because they go against a sub's "hivemind" mentality

This confused woman was asking about clearly innocent things that her father did to her as a child. All the people on that sub saw vague contrived similarities between the father and some abuser in their life. They instantly labeled it as abuse. When I said it wasn't abuse, they replied to me with "but my dad did x,y and z, are you saying that my dad didn't abuse me!?!?" No, because I wasn't talking about their fathers, I was talking about op's father. Which is what they should've been doing. They couldn't think clearly, and were confusing their own experience with ops. I never went back to that very sad place. I hope that the op woman didn't destroy her family relationships for nothing.
