Do you think a lot of people on this sub "exaggerate" their max lift stats?

Moreover, there are only a handful of guys at my gym who bench in the 225-250 range and they are absolute monsters.

A max of 250lb is pretty low and even for a person that doesn't focus on strength, hitting that number would not take an "absolute monster". However, if you do 8-12 rep work sets with 250lb, you probably bench 375+ ( little closer to monster size). So don't confuse a guys absolute max with working weight a guy uses.

Is 205 your absolute max or is 205 a weight you can rep? If you can rep 205 for three, then you can definitely hit 225lb.

I really doesn't help anyone to lie about your stats and I don't see a reason to lie to strangers on the internet about what you're lifting.

I doubt they do. You have limited knowledge and very low expectations. Here are things to take into consideration when comparing physique to strength stats.

  • Does the person focus on strength and setting PRs or is he only concerned about asthetics? If you go on bb.com you find guys with huge fucking legs that have probably never bothered to squat more than 315.

  • How do they bench? If they do a powerlifting style bench and have good form, they will be able to bench a lot more than they could if they did a flared elbow flat bench bodybuilder style bench.

  • How much body fat do they have? If I am <10% bodyfat I am going to look a hell of a lot better than if I am 20% bodyfat, but I am also going to be weaker.

  • How much knowledge and years experience does the guy/gal have.

I'm pretty happy with my size but never bench more than 205.

You make no attempt to understand strength training or to get stronger, but instead of realizing you have holes in your own game you just assume everyone else is a liar.
