I've got a rant to add.
My favorite parts of posts like this:
All the people that prove OP right by being miserable complainers in the comments.
The people who are too in denial about how negative it is here and in the wrestling community in general (probably because they contribute to said negativity), so they make up reasons to demean OP so they can ignore the points ("Ha, you probably still live in your mom's basement. Amirite, guys?" No. Quit being a coward. Address the points or admit you don't have anything to say because they're right.)
The people who use the same tired cop-out: "Get over it! It's harsh criticism!"
No, no.
A critic is someone who analyzes the pros and cons of the topic they are talking about.
A person who only analyzes the cons is a complainer.
The wrestling community has critics, but is full of complainers who don't know the difference between being a critic and being an asshole.
Meltzer would be a good example of a critic. He's not afraid to talk about the bad, but he also takes time to praise the good. Whether we agree with him or not, whether he's right or wrong, he's criticizing the topic.
Cornette? Well, he's a good example of an asshole, if only because he spends the majority of his time demeaning people on the platform of the product.
Critic: "I'm not a fan of Roman Reigns. I think he's overrated, and his moves aren't that interesting, but there were a few spots in this match I liked, although the pacing was a bit slow for my taste."
Complainer: "I can't stand Roman Reigns. All they do is shove him down our throats!"
Asshole: "Kinda sucks Roman beat cancer so quickly because they're probably going to give him a main event push again."
One more time:
Critic: "I don't think that's a good idea, OP. I'd rather see..."
Complainer: "That's a terrible idea. But even if it was good... it's WWE."
Asshole: "Oh look! Another dumb idea! So original!"
Only reason I stick around this sub is I like seeing some of the ideas people come up with (some are good, some induce eye rolls. But if you pay attention, you'll see who's who among critics, complainers and assholes.
