Reminds me a story that my mom told me.

about 20 years ago she attended some sort of community center meeting where her friend was showing mostly black people some basics about gardening and planting flowers and stuff.

Apparently there was this mix up where the audience, or at least 1 person, thought this was some sort of government hearing when people can start demanding things.

Person says "How come I go to all the white neighborhoods and everything is cleaner? The roads are nicer? They have flower beds?" And started demanding that the people on the stage pay for flowers to be planted in their neighborhoods.

After several minutes of explanations going no where, one person stood up and shouted right back at the person and said something like "I and all the people in my neighborhood make sacrifices in order to make my area look nice. I pay for my flowers. And my son isn't wearing $300 shoes like yours is. If you want to change your neighborhood you need to do it and stop spending money on ghetto junk."

I know it probably sounds like something from r/thathappened but fuck it, thought I would share.
