I love Ffxi, I hate Wow, lets talk Bdo

This game sure does have absolutely beautiful game world and graphics, great job on character customization (after years in MMORPGs this was the best I've seen in visual department). The classes are incredibly fun, combat is fluid and engaging. There's always something to do, fishing, hunting, training/taming horses, decorating house, gardening, questing, etc. Lore was not that engaging and even though I'm lore kind of player, I lost track of it after first few levels.

If you're not into dungeons, that's awesome, this game doesn't have any, just open world bosses. Speaking of that, it's mostly pvp based game. It's also the least P2W game ever.

Now let's move on to the cons.

*Speaking of pvp based game, there are tons of hidden stats. To keep up and be competitive, you'll need to grind many hours a day, which may end up feeling like a second job for you. If you don't like RNG don't even touch this game, there are many players quitting due to failing their accessories worth couple of millions, which may be a few weeks of work.

*Class balance is not the best yet not the worst. There is a class or two not receiving love from the devs, but that's nearly in every mmo.

*Support is the worst ever, taking weeks to reply and then sending copypaste reponses, often not helping with problem at all (personal experience).

*There's lots of desync, which makes world boss fights the worst experience I've ever had, you will simply die so easily, lose your crystals and exp. What I found annoying is that boss spawn times are more or less random so that you gotta rely on people saying it in chat, or being on discord, it happened to me countless times that by the time I was by the boss he was dead.

*There's gender lock, so if you got preferred class check it out. If you like flashy costumes and dressup simulators, be prepared to get 30€ for 1 costume for 1 toon, otherwise your soft cap lvl char will look like lvl 1, no joke. Social aspect in this game is really bad, maybe the worst I've ever experienced.

  • Since the game is total grind fest, there's NO hard level cap, this may drive some players to grind for hundreds of hours. Grinding usually takes place on one particular spot that makes you the most money for many hours a day and yes grinding is the current only best way to earn money so if you're into other ways of earning you might fall behind, grinding is much more braindead that dungeon spamming as you'll just be taking the same route all day and doing nothing else, for money. Yes you can do many other things but you'll fall behind, a lot. That's the truth. If you want to be competitive and do lots of pvp, you're probably already late. I played this for 1 month and got 2 chars to soft cap, I really enjoyed my experience but due to cons above mentioned I cannot recommend this game unless you're really casual and all you wanna do is pve here and there. This is based on state of game before June 29th, I didn't play beyond that.
