Why do you love gaming so much?

I think this will get removed as you've put so little effort into your post - maybe fill it out with some examples of games you love and why?

When I was a kid it was just the sort of wild, fantastical, limitless nature of them that completely captured my imagination. I loved being creative in games, and ultimately it lead to me becoming a software developer (though not games, other than for a hobby).

I still love those elements now.. the wonder, the excitement, the fantasy, the creativity, the challenge. The thrill of pulling-off a good streak, or nailing a best lap, or taking an objective, or discovering a new secret, or working out how to kill the aliens without loosing more good men, and so on.

But now, for me at least, games offer something more.. respite from the worries of life. I can be completely and utterly absorbed in them more easily than other media. At the end of a long day you need to relax, and sometimes a difficult day can be tough to shake. Games offer a way to be free of that in a way that I can't with books, films, music, etc. Don't get me wrong, there are exceptions.. I sat mouth wide-open with a piece of popcorn in my hand throughout the whole of Gravity, and I was accidentally up until 3am reading Ernst Jünger's Storm of Steel the other night. Having a shitty day can ruin a viewing of an otherwise decent film, or I'll find myself reading the same paragraph of a book over and over because it's just not going in.

But if you're in a competitive multiplayer game, you almost can't let your mind wander.. there's enough stimulation for it to occupy your conscious mind entirely. It's sort of like the opposite of meditation, where you're so focused on the game that everything else disappears. And after you feel refreshed and energised!
