I would like to take a moment to remind people that Valentines day is not a day to obsess about - be it for couples or singles.

You probably want to see your friends and family happy all year long, not just on that one day in Febuary, don't you? So don't get sucked up in a holiday that is often trying so hard to sell you love that it prevents you from actually paying attention to your loved ones. The day you should show the people in your life that you care about them is always today - and the day they shouldn't mind if you can't live up to your own expectations or theirs is also always today.

Don't feel pressured to do something - don't give your social circle or shops and advertising the power to tell you what love is and how it's supposed to be expressed, because you know already know all that yourself. You don't need a lover to have love in your life. And there is no point of having one in your life, if you're so busy chasing social coventions that you can't see the individual behind the person.

If Valentines day is an important day for you, go out there and spread love instead of waiting for it to be expressed to you - because of the way our cultures treat Valentine's day a lot of people are in dire need of feeling loved and appreciated.
