Love is just a drug.

Chasing highs is bad because it leaves you miserable in the short term. Long term fulfillment comes from suffering for the right reasons.

I should have clarified this, but I was referring solely to romantic love. I do have people in my life that I love, and I have hobbies and places that I love. I love watching the sunset from this special spot near my house. I am not a bitter or cynical person and nobody in my life would describe me as such.

What I do not understand is why one needs romantic love. I have many forms of love in my life and they have been making me very happy lately. What does romantic love fulfill that other forms of love do not? Why even pursue romantic love when it constantly leaves people heartbroken and hurt?
