I Love Overwatch, but What Are the Devs Doing?

Even as a 4000+ SR player. I cannot say I 100% understand balancing to the point where I am like "This is how it should be done."

Sometimes it's the same as I predicted or sometimes I share similar ideas with professional players etc.

The main issue I have with blizzard and balancing is how long it takes them to do it. It takes so god damn long for a patch to roll through that people just get sick of waiting.

Bastion iron clad passive was nerfed in 5 days after then whole 35% damage reduction meant he can self heal in turret form through a dragon strike. That was great. But it went into PTR with 35% and people instantly saw the problem within a day.

But roadhog's shift from offensive to defensive took like a month because it came in 2 parts. He had to have his offensive power nerfed and therefore get his defensive powers buff with being able to move and heal. He got nerfed but didn't get buffs until weeks later. He was absolute garbage during those weeks.

If things are going on the PTR. I'm expecting changes and/or tweaks. Not 3 weeks of PTR. Hits live the same. And then the tweak that should have came when it hit live 2 weeks later.

I understand that PTR has less players to test stuff but I would personally take the personal opinion of a very skilled/credible player than a thousand quickplay/bronze player opinion on balancing. These players know the game better than most of us.

Set egos aside. You learned from them most likely. They shouldn't lose all their credibility simply because when balancing is part of the discussion.

I do not expect the game to be balanced perfectly. But it should not take like half a season to balance something that is clearly not balanced.
