I love what Blizzard has done with Shadowlands and I don't care about omnipresent soapbox critics

  • Totally revamped the levelling system. You can get to endgame in a matter of hours, and you get rewarded every time you ding.
  • Totally revamped the questing system. You can go anywhere, do any questline with Timewalking, string together whichever zones you want to to fit your character or your friends' preferences or your vibe, whatever.

was about time they modernized it and not without issues.

  • Made alts accessible, meaning people can enjoy a vastly larger amount of the game, with Threads of Fate and the coming systems going forward modelled after it.

Alts arent really more accessible than before. Gearing them is sloggier than before.

  • Made PvP balanced (ish!) with mercenaries and rating matching etc.

Hahahahaha.

  • Made PvE accessible and challenging by tiering it with the keys system.

  • Made it possible to solo or to group up in a surprisingly broad number of situations.
  • Gave players meaningful choices affecting storylines and character abilities with Covenants (a system I'm sure we're gonna see more of even after we're no longer in the land of the dead)
  • Made gearing a steadily rewarding process, within reason -- still have to rely on the RNG sometimes, but also you can get really decently geared with honor and conquest, dungeons/mythics, raids, great vault...
  • Gave players a ton of new customization options
  • Kept zones alive after level cap through WQs, Covenant anima channelling, post-level-cap storyline campaigns
  • Introduced innovative new experiences like Torghast that are totally different to what WoW has had before
  • Gave players catch up mechanisms on renown or gear from world quests if you take a break pf weeks or months
