Hi, I’ve been in a similar situation before, we were so in love but couldn’t be together (really couldn’t, it’s a complicated situation). He wanted to cut contact completely because he still liked me and it was painful for him to see me knowing that we couldn’t be together, I was upset and still wanted to be friends because, like how it was for you, he became my best friend. However I realised later that it was good to cut contact to be able to completely move on. I started seeing other people and things are okay now. I’ll give it a few months before reaching out to him again just to catch up because I do miss him. But I’m more at peace now with the whole thing.
