Low GPA but are there any projects I can showcase like how art students have their portfolio of work to show that they are capable?

How low is low? Just curious, but I still have advice:

You have a shitton of classmates with better academic performance. I would die inside for you if you presented a special project to me. Part of it would be the cynical thought of, “We KNOW he/she got a C- average given the results of courses and proctored exams... how do we know this is actually their work?”

It’s also sending the message of, “I slacked off on the long-term project of keeping my grades up, but I could pull it out for this project!” And most entry-level accounting jobs are looking for someone who can slog through the boring shit long-term and not slack off.

So sell your personality and soft skills to convince them you’d be an asset to their team even if you’re not the top student. Because trying to sell your technical skills in a setting where a bunch of other people have already proven objectively to be superior isn’t a great strategy.
