Lowe: Do Anthony Davis and the Pelicans still need DeMarcus Cousins?

There really isn't a relatable case to Cousins.

  1. A majority of the Achilles injury cases have been on players above 30.

  2. The ones that were younger weren't on players of Cousin's caliber.

  3. It's a terrible injury but medicine has advanced.

  4. I ruptured my Achilles playing 5 years ago at 23. I didn't have surgery and did not have take any physical therapy. My Achilles still aches from time to time and after 15 minutes while running or any physical activity it starts to get really tight and throbs.

Now I'm definitely not as big or as athletic Cousins, but I feel if I would've had surgery and physical therapy I'd be fine; without any issues. Cousins should be getting excellent treatment, and he's still relatively young. This injury is definitely debilitating to fast players who cut a lot, it's definitely debilitating to older players. But Cousins is young. I feel like he should be okay. Rudy Gay has recovered seemingly fine, he was 30 when he had the injury...stats don't tell the whole story.
