LPT: Loyalty to your company only rewards the company. Hopping companies is the best way to increase your salary, don't sit there hoping for a raise. Apply to other jobs, get a better offer and use it to leverage a raise or take the offer.

If you're hoppin jobs every year, good luck with buying a house because noone will finance you without a 5 year stable position. Many employers also see job hopping as youre planning to be a temp worker, so unless they're desperate or it's a niche industry you should at least expect being treated as such in return.

My old industry I didn't have much of a choice, following the oil boom/busts and traveling state to state if you want stable income throughout the year. But I switched to a night shift unionized industrial manufacturing career, and stuck with it because of the benefits. 6 years later, I'm om the day shift, own a house, have a solid 401k, and full insurance for me, my wife, and our soon to be born son.

I almost didn't get this job because of my bouncing resume. They accepted me as summer help and wanted to see if I actually wanted something stable, or just chasing dollars. This company had the balls to say it to my face instead of others who will just never call you back or plan to lay you off after they're done with you before you leave first
