I make games, and using a trello board has been the most effective way for me to get stuff done. A game is huge, but breaking it down to simple tasks that can be accomplished within an hour is the best way for me to get through it.
Often I procrastinate because I don't know what to do next, a quick glance at the board gives me stuff to do that's easy and I find myself putting more time in than what I initially expected to do.
Each time I finish a task I drag it to the done board, it gives me a little dopamine hit so I tackle the next, the smaller the tasks, the more likely I'm going to do the next one.
Now I'm setting up a "life" trello board to get myself to do stuff I usually only think about but don't do because the goal seems too ambitious.
