LPT: When traveling with a friend or family member, don’t be afraid to suggest breaking off to each do your own things for a day. Going solo can be enjoyable (eat/go wherever want at your own pace), plus it reduces you being sick of each other by the end of the trip.

Lots of people are uncomfortable on their own, I was lucky to grow up with many close friends who I would always do something with. When I got a career I had to travel alone for work and would have to eat dinner out at restaurants and stuff by myself often since I travel for work overnight. I felt really awkward the first few times but I eventually got over it. I do a lot of stuff on my own now when I am at home as well.

Don't need any planning, and the older I got the more of one friend wouldn't go somewhere if other friend was there and the usual drama happened so it's nice to wake up Saturday and decide to just go golfing or camping for the night on my own. No planning required and no time waiting for people to get ready and making compromises to go places people like I may not like.

If you're an introvert or someone used to only doing thing's with friends I highly suggest forcing yourself to go out on your own a few times. I hated it the first times I had to do it but I didn't have a choice, I was sick of eating fast food drive through food and was getting fat eating crap food all the time traveling for work so I was kinda forced to eat at sit down restaurants by myself. It grew on me and I enjoy it now.

You often have chances to strike up more conversations with waitresses, bar tenders, etc since many see you by your self and come to talk. Met my ex girlfriend that way.
