The benefit of something like LSD is that it may be useful for some people, in order to propel them on the path to clear away their delusions, but any insight that is dependent upon anything is not real insight and is not a valid means of escaping birth and death

Drugs were present at the time of the Buddha and some ascetics took them. Had there been any benefit in relation to the end of suffering the Buddha or the sangha would have recommended them and that would be that. But there isn't any reference to this at all nor has the sangha since the Buddha's death recommended their usage.

Drugs are not part of a Buddhist path of insight and should not be discussed or disguised as that.
