LSU vs Syracuse vs Kent

Definitely all depends on personal preference with $ being equal. I can say a few things about LSU generally as a native Louisianan. You’re right that it’s an amazing, beautiful campus- I’ve been a few times as a kid for football games. You’ll also have no trouble finding a party scene. Louisiana definitely lives up to its reputation, and not just within New Orleans. We as a people really love to drink. However, I think you’re being optimistic about “good weather.” Some people really like the heat, but unless you’re one of them, it’ll be a massive change from Toronto. The thing here, pretty much all along the Gulf Coast, is that when it says 80 degrees, it usually feels 5-10 degrees hotter and you’ll be covered in sweat after a surprisingly small amount of time outside because of the oppressive humidity. Our winters are great. Every other time of year sucks.

As for more of the law school side of it, I’m not familiar with LSU’s 509s, but I think I’ve heard that they place decently into Houston, which obviously has a massive legal market. On the other hand, you may want to prepare yourself to end up in Louisiana. I definitely think there are worse places to live, though to be honest, unless you’re loaded as shit, I wouldn’t recommend starting a family here. Our public education system sucks. Within Louisiana, however, LSU is a great second option to Tulane. LSU’s name punches above its weight here with laymen, probably due to sports, and while it’s a great school, people think it’s even better than that. I’m not sure how that translates into legal hiring, so you probably still want to consult the 509s.
