Just out of curiosity, do you fear government genocide or control? If the government wanted to genocide Americans the only power you might have is funnily enough, socialized media. Every single citizen could be armed to the teeth with military grade tech but you don't have air superiority, you can't stop a strike from the ocean and if they control the media they could just nuke you and claim Russia/north Korea etc. Whatever country they want to go to war with. If you distrust government that much, which is controlled by different representatives every 2 to 8 years(except the supreme court/law of the land) and starts at the city level, why not promote better ideas instead of the how your going to defend yourself?
