Wow once again, I am not who you think I am. 1. What? I have to admit I have not been verbally invited to a wedding. I have only gotten invitations... and it IDd the time and date. So pardon me. Way to say I am a liar. 2. “Westboro doesn’t defend gays” ... again, what? I definitely did not even remotely say that westboro defends gays. They are so adamantly vocally anti gay there is literally no way I would have said that. I also never said that all veterans have any common opinion on anything. What I said was that it is inaccurate to say that veterans support gays. Aka absurd to claim they all support gays. 3. I meant that they are christian in that they use lines from the Christian Bible. I think they are a bunch of immoral ridiculous fools that will hopefully get what is coming to them. But I struggle with anger. However... FOR A FACT I have had “Christians” try to justify to me that westboro picketing the funeral of Matthew Shepherd was the right to protest, freedom of speech, and then quoted Leviticus to me. Like it or not people in our group proudly identify with the Westboro stance on homosexuality.

But may I also be presumptuous... I’m here trying to gain some insight into how someone can continue to be friends with someone they find morally objectionable. Yes be friendly and civil and whatnot, but to be close enough friends to be invited to a wedding is fascinating to me. Most people that I know that would not go to a gay or trans wedding would t be friends in the first place due to the need to associate with people who share your values to keep yourself on the path and avoid temptation. also that it is a moral obligation to tell LGBT people that they need to repent or be an unrepentant sinner and be damned for eternity. Was I assuming that you are one of these people... no. Was I hoping that I could increase my understanding of a position different than my own, yes. Did I in turn get hostile responses with accusations that my stance was hostile and that I am in the wrong subreddit, not the right kind of Christian, called a cherry picker, .... pretty much totally disrepected by someone that I have already acknowledged as having served our country and tried to interact with in the most respectful way I know how to.... absolutely.
