Lurkers of Reddit, why do you lurk?

12 years 3 karma. Didn't even sign up for an account for about a year. A very savvy friend introduced me not long after launch. In the early days Reddit was a very different place. The number of times I could have contributed meaningfully we're few, such was the quality of comments and content. I remember getting annoyed at friends I introduced to Reddit upvoting pics mindlessly. Since then I've mostly just used it to guage the world in different ways. Looking now almost every post I made was when I was out of my head and I regretted at the time. In the beginning I could spend most of a day on here and not reach the third page. I really do miss it. It felt like it had the opportunity to evolve into something so much more than what it has become. I'm not hating, I understand it's become a huge part of people's lives and they love it and it's done some amazing things. I just hoped it could become something more like a people-pedia instead of another instant gratification social medium.
