LWYMMD Misconceptions

I do think part of how the media is reporting on the video (and even how individual writers, reporters, etc. are tweeting about it) is because they've already made up their minds about what kind of person taylor is. it's sad because the video has so many layers to it and people who already actively dislike or even hate her have formed an opinion on it even before they're done watching it. I showed the video to two friends—one doesn't really listen to pop music and has no knowledge on what happened to taylor re: kimye, the other hates taylor already because "she's white privilege exemplified, she's playing the victim," etc. guess who hated the video from the get-go and guess who thought it was funny and had great cinematography and production design? it sucks that so many people are dismissing how objectively interesting the mv is because they're more interested in hating on her with other people and nothing will change their minds.

I know I'm being biased since I'm a fan of hers, but I disliked lwymmd as a song initially (since I took it at face value and didn't even think that it could be satirical) and grew to appreciate it with the context of the video. sure, it is petty and there's an element of immaturity to it, but objectively the video is beautiful and could be interpreted in more ways than just "I'm petty taylor." I just wish more people set aside their hatred for her to appreciate how visually complex the video is. I'm sorry this turned into kind of a rant, I'll stop now
