For me depending how soon it is and how comfortable you would be I’d probably be honest with him. Probably only do it if you’ve been dating for a while or you have really connected though, too soon might feel a bit confusing!

But when you feel comfortable maybe say something like look, just a heads up, my parents were abusive and as a kid I had to be really careful and lie sometimes so I didn’t set them off, but I’m really trying to pay attention to it now so I don’t do it with other people, so if you think anything seems off just let me know.

So you’re acknowledging the behaviour and it’s not about him so it’s just learned behaviour you are trying to work on, not personal.
