M/20/5'7" [180 > 146 = 34lbs] (1 year) face progress. I never even realized how different my face is until I saw this old picture on my phone.

American Crew molding clay. I only use the high hold medium shine. Anything else is a sin against humanity. Who wants medium hold high shine? That makes no sense! And don't even get my started on the fiber shit. Makes your hair feel like sand paper and you can't even style your hair the way you want.

So what I do is I dry my hair with a towel until it's barely damp then let it dry for about 10 minutes as I'm getting ready and I keep it in the general shape I want it during that time. Then I put a decent amount of it in my hands (about half a bottle cap worth) and spread it all over both hands for like 10 seconds and make sure it's distributed evenly.

Then I go through my entire head and shape it the way I want it. I put most of it in the front, but the top is important as well and I put a good amount of focus on the part to make sure that part stays up and makes the hard part more pronounced. I generally don't use a comb, but sometimes it's necessary.

I also have to take into account how clean my hair is. I don't wash it with shampoo every day (maybe two to three times a week). When I only wash it with water there's going to be a little bit of product left because it's oil based which after sleeping on it can make it a bit more difficult to get it perfect. That's mostly the case on the front opposite the part. Sometimes it likes to stick straight up and jut out and I hate that.

If my hair is giving me any problems at all during this process I wash my hands and spray it with the American Crew medium hold spray gel. I use a lot of this when I have to use it. Somewhere around 10 shots of the spray. That basically gets my hair wet and lets me go at it again which also gives more hold throughout the day, but this does harden the hair up too which I don't necessarily like the feeling of when someone else wants to touch my hair, but it does make it look better.

After that I take a pea sized amount of the molding clay and do the same as I did before, just getting the shape just right.

Okay sorry for the essay, but I'm very particular about my hair and if it's not right it bothers me until I get it right. It sounds like a lot, but I've been honing my hair process for a while so it's just habit.
