I’m always here for you

This is great when it's something that can be cured or managed more easily. However, I must warn about taking care of relatives with severe mental illnesses. I am paid to be there for people with severe mental illnesses and I provide them with the support they need. It takes a toll and it is definitely not something I would do for free because I have seen how it has affected their relatives, husbands, wives, children. It is extremely hard for them and I do not blame them for placing them in specialized homes like the one I work in because most of them are not equipped to support and help their mentally ill relative and had no life of their own while taking care of them. Being selfless is a great quality, but there is no point in losing your life(and those of other relatives, especially children) taking care of someone who sadly has a very limited ability to enjoy life remaining and who could receive more appropriate care elsewhere while still being able to see you from time to time. Value your own life and consider what's best for your relative, husband, wife, children. You might not be equipped to deal with this and it may cost you everything.
