[M] I feel like entirely too many wishes can be granted in the following way..

People just don't get the paw in the first place. The whole point is to have consequences to the wish, not stupid side effects.

Like if I wished for a sandwich because thats popular, and someone says that it is a rotten sandwich, thats stupid on the paw's part.

The point of it is a consequence for asking for the sandwich. Here is an example:

Granted. The next time you go outside a homeless man approaches you and hands a bag to you. Confused you ask the man if he is alright, but he just walks away. You peer inside the bag and see it is your sandwich that you asked for. The next day, you turn on the news and to your shock, see that a homeless man has died of starvation on the street. Police have secured the corpse and are transporting it to the morgue.

See? that is a good paw answer because it is a punishment for asking for the sandwich and not a stupid side effect.
