So I’m not to familiar with WDW but had a question about the yeti on expedition Everest

Here's the synopsis:

Expedition Everest is comprised of three independent structures.

  • The "mountain" shell exterior

  • The track that the coaster rides on

  • The Yeti animatronic

Each of these structures sits on its own foundation. The structures are independent because no part of one structure touches any part of another structure.

This is all good design but it introduces an issue. The foundation that the Yeti rests upon has shifted. Further motion of the Yeti would cause the foundation to shift even more. Repairing the foundation is possible but would require the dismantling of both the track structure and the mountain shell structure.

The cost/benefit of closing and dismantling the structure to repair this issue has been deemed to be not worth it. It is extremely likely, if not outright certain, that the Yeti will remain in its current state through the lifetime of Expedition Everest. There is a possibility that, if the attraction retains its popularity, the repair could be combined with a future major refurbishment of the attraction. Otherwise, considering the downtime and expense involved in a major refurbishment, the attraction may simply be replaced at some point in the future.
