I’m starting Ritalin tomorrow. Any advice?

  1. Hugely life changing in many ways, but subtle and mostly that it enables learning and growth that was not possible before.
  2. Sort of has over the last few years taken away exciting/crazy part that would do things that could be exciting/deadly, but stop taking it for a week and that comes back in full swing but you are able to hear little voice that says "maybe this is risky" or something like that which for me was a good thing, but for the first year i was scared i was losing my fun side, but looking at it now i enjoy being able to control my "fun side" rather than it just going full gas without any limit.
  3. Not many negative side effects, had to cut back on coffee because it now gives me the jitters but don't miss it.
  4. Every day because consistency in general seems to work but depends on the person i guess.
  5. Yeah after about 1 hour of going round in circles trying to do something your like, oh yeah medication wearing off but you don't notice because it creeps up slowly, i got a watch and just take at set time after finding out what time frame works, then it was much smoother all day.
  6. Not often but sometimes and it does not exacerbate the effects of alcohol, it allows you to drink more without getting sloppy drunk you just get high drunk, but all depends on how much etc.
  7. Found sleep to be better if i get to sleep before it wears off but if it wears off then its like how it used to be before diagnosis but now take melatonin which helps a bit without the knockout power of sleeping pills.

As far as morning goes you just have to find what works for you, there is no hard and fast rule, i find taken with food helps it to last longer in the morning.
