I’m tired of consumer culture.

I'm on board entirely. This time if year it becomes a little more difficult to maintain that mindset because... well, it's that time to give gifts, but I do my best to try and really find something unique (not mass produced) and fitting for the family member I'm gifting to. If I cant manage that, it's usually a gift card or lottery ticket which might seem lame but I'm not going to buy a gift just for the sake of buying something. I'm pretty good about not buying stuff for myself though.

One thing I really struggle with is seeing my SO's 10 y.o. buy into the need for material possessions. The other side of her family seems to feed into that notion of hers and idk how to change that, or at least make her realize life isn't about getting stuff when she's getting fed that lie from multiple angles
