I said something of a similar being to my oldest brother (15yrs older than me) when he called our house at 2am begging to speak to our mom so he could nag her for money. I kept telling him I wasn't going to wake her up for that because she actually goes out and works a job during the day to make a living. I was 14 at the time, and I said, "You know you're in a real shitty place when your kid sister, who's half your age is saying you need to get your life together." He was like, "I know... I know..." and then I told him not to call back and hung up on him.

He's in his mid forties now, and the only thing he's proven is that rock bottom must be a lot farther down than any of us could imagine.
