Macpherson: In politics, Quebec non-francophones don't count

You have 101, perpetual control of the Quebec civil service and a permanent majority in its National Assembly. Francophone Quebeckers have a fiercely assimilationist culture (integrate or we put you on the front page of the newspaper as a threats), that the federal government does literally nothing to impede. I struggle to understand the précarité.

We (Anglo Quebeckers) have ... I’m sorry what do we have again? A school board the caq has vowed to erase, street names from a bygone era that are being renamed after people who wanted us out of the province. Anglo quebeckers have lower educational attainment than francophones, lower MEDIAN incomes than francophones (a narrow few with old money make the average deceiving), and a generally poorer set of opportunities. Maybe we’re not palestiniens in Israel but we’re not thriving by any measure.
