To clarify, gender does exist and isn't just a social construct. Or at least we don't know enough to conclusively say it's one way or the other.

There's evidence to suggest gender is innate and a matter of nature rather than nurture. My existence as a woman is valid on even a biological level.

A mismatch of body and mind is hypothesised to happen in the womb since the brain and body are exposed to hormones at different times, essentially.

There could well be some kind of social aspect in some cases too, but we can't quite say gender itself is a social construct.

Gender roles, though? Totally constructed.
