I made a girl I was on a date with give a homeless man money

I was once leaving a restaurant (fazolis- kind of a fast food spaghetti place) with a friend. This lady drove up to us and started begging for money so she could buy something from mcdonalds. It was a very bizarre encounter because she was trying to show us all these papers (I made sure my friend and I stayed back from the lady) and I mean she was driving around begging while spending money on gas.

Basically I didn't buy her story but didn't want to flat out say no. The restaurant was across the street from a local grocer and I offered to walk down there and buy her some groceries. She refused that it would be "too kind, but please whatever you could spare would be a blessing." I insisted "no, it really is not too much, we can get you groceries, it wouldn't be an inconvenience" and she again insisted it was too much.

So then I offered to buy her food from fazolis (the restaurant my friend and I had left) and the lady acted all surprised and said something like "but it's so expensive, if you just gave me the money I could go to mcdonalds and get food there."

At this point my patience is running thin and I told her "look, I'm not giving you any money. I'll buy you groceries or a meal from fazolis but you're not getting any cash." At that point she said "I guess it's just not in your heart" and drove off.

Tldr: lady driving around begging for money "for food" but after I offered to buy groceries or fast food she told me "it's just not in your heart."
