I made a meme.

It’s not just about specs, it’s about the experience as a whole. 4K TVs are certainly prevalent in most middle class family’s living rooms from my experience, so these consoles will be playing games at 4K for the most part. 1080p is still king on PC but the difference in visuals speak for themselves.

I’m well aware of acquiring an OS through student discounts/offers and using grey market codes; I’ve done all of these myself at different points in time. My argument is that you don’t even have to think about that when buying a console. The cost of the OS is just part of the sticker price.

My point about the old games wasn’t that people don’t wanna play them, it’s that if you’re wanting to play AAA titles at release, you’re paying MSRP regardless of what platform you’re on. And given the biggest titles are on yearly cycles, it’d be pointless waiting for a sale when the player base will migrate in 12 months to the iteration of their favourite title.

Now, don’t get me wrong - I’m not saying consoles are better than PCs, what I am saying is that a PC isn’t the correct choice for every gamer and both platforms have their benefits as well as drawbacks.
