I really wanted to make a dice holder for my growing collection of dice. What better/more classic design than a mimic chest?!
I bought some clay, the little chest, tools, and wiggly eyes from the craft store and couldn’t wait to get started! The tools were the most expensive item and honestly were hardly used. You could easily get by with a pencil or paint brush handle.
I already owned some cheap acrylic paints and paint brushes. I used burnt sienna, crimson, and dark blue, with a thin layer of very watery black to darken areas that were a bit too light.
Overall, the process took about 3 hours. I still have to do the inside, but I still need to decide how I want to design that and what I want to use for the teeth (I fear the clay is probably too fragile).
