I made a song and have it scheduled to release on Spotify in November. I have zero social media following, but am working on that currently. What is the best use of a few hundred dollars towards marketing?

While I agree with the other commenter about not putting huge amounts into advertising just yet: Something you could do using FB ads is to maybe break your song into snippets on a catchy advertisement campaign, just to drive traffic to the song so you could get some plays/attention.

Use "Brand Exposure" as your campaign, and attach 10-15sec catchy snippets as the content with some really good ad copy that makes people want to give it a quick listen. Use the words, "Up and coming" or "brand new" or "compared to X" (even if you may not be yet). If you were to narrow down the targeting, i.e: Your music is Indie, so you could narrow to Interest 1: Indie, Interest 2: A popular Indie artist (research this if you don't know already), you're more likely to reach potential listeners as they're already engaged because they're proven to like your genre. Depending on how many adsets, select CBO or maximum $5 spend as that's $20 a week.

Even if it gets you enough full plays to claw a $5 back, if you also include the FB pixel, your retargeting audience will be generated which means for future releases you could reappear to that audience who may remember you and be more willing to listen again, or convert. Just a quick, cheap idea!
